The San Francisco 49ers were supposed to turn things around in 2010, led be a rejuvenated quarterback in Alex Smith, and some young names on both sides of the ball ready to break out. It didn't quite work out like that, of course, as the team stumbled to a 6-10 season. And so, the coach was fired and things were shaken up, but the team made a huge splash by bringing in former Stanford head coach and former NFL quarterback Jim Harbaugh to lead the 49ers into the future.

At least for the time being, he's still relying on Smith at quarterback, and hopes that returning him to a system more similar to the one he thrived with in college will produce success. Quarterback Colin Kaepernick was drafted in the second round, and the 49ers are hoping that he will develop quickly. What will also help is if Frank Gore stays healthy for the whole year, as he can tear through defenses.

The defense actually has a lot of talent, including a few true standout players, like cornerback Nate Clements, and linebacker Patrick Willis. Plus they spent their first round pick, the seventh overall, on defensive end Aldon Smith.

Harbaugh brings in a lot of hope for the future for the 49ers, who have struggled so much over recent years. Fans with their 2011 49ers tickets want a return to those 80s and 90s glory days, and they might see the start of that unfold during this coming year.
