There won't be a single team in the NHL during the 2011-2012 season with as new of a look as the Philadelphia Flyers have. They made some moves in the offseason that absolutely shocked their fans and other teams across the league. This is especially true considering they were the number 2 seed last season, and two years ago made it to the Stanley Cup.

They traded away two of the cornerstones of the franchise, including the captain, Mike Richards, as well as front line goal scorer Jeff Carter. Clearly they have a lot of faith in young guys like Claude Giroux and Maxime Talbot, and other veterans like Danny Briere. The team also signed Jaromir Jagr who is back in the NHL after several seasons.

The other big move was to bring in goalie Ilya Bryzgalov, and sign him to a huge new deal. The Flyers are hoping that the goalie was the one missing piece they needed to win it all, but a lot of people are upset about all of the talent upfront that they jettisoned. There's still a lot of strength in this team though, and Chris Pronger still anchors an excellent defensive group.
