It was a good first year on the job for head coach Tommy Tuberville and his Texas Tech Red Raiders. They finished 8-5, and that's quite a bit better than the highly touted Texas Longhorns, even though the Longhorns beat them in week 3 last season.

The big win of the year came over #14 Missouri, and after losing the next week to Oklahoma, they rebounded to win their final three games of the year, including a bowl game win over Northwestern. Now it's time to improve on that, and Tuberville has brought in a very good recruiting class to help get the job done.

It's a tough schedule for 2011, as the Big 12 features a lot of teams, like the Red Raiders, who are looking to take the next step up from middle of the pack to Big 12 division winner and conference winner. Therefore, there are no "gimme" games against rivals like Texas A&M, Texas, Missouri, Baylor, Oklahoma State, Kansas State and Oklahoma.

But if the Red Raiders can at least split those games and win the rest, then they will be in good position to be at or near the top of their Big 12 division. That's the plan for Tuberville and company, and the crowds in Lubbock will definitely be out in full force to support that as the team looks to continue to move ahead into a bright future.
