Bo Pelini and his hardnosed, defensive minded coaching staff have led a revival of the Nebraska Cornhuskers towards the top of the college football world. That's a good thing for him, because few locales value their college football program as highly as Nebraska does, and there is a firm belief that they should always be competing for a championship.

In each of the last two seasons, Pelini has led the Cornhuskers to a 10-4 record, finishing as the number 14 team in 2009, and the number 20 team in 2010. That's fine, but it's short of where they wanted to be, and it includes two tough, close losses in the Big 12 championship game.

The Big 12 championship game is something they'll never see again though, of course. The school has picked up and left for the Big 10, and will be playing a whole new slate of teams in place of their old rivals. In 2011, the Cornhuskers football team will be playing teams like Wisconsin, Ohio State, Michigan State, Penn State, Michigan and Iowa, instead of teams like Texas, Oklahoma and Missouri.

The big games on the 2011 Cornhuskers schedule will be when the team travels to Wisconsin, and then plays Ohio State at home in back to back weeks in the beginning of October. Then they will end the year by playing Penn State, Michigan and Iowa at home in three straight weeks. It's new, and it's tough, but Pelini and the Cornhuskers are ready to take the next step.
